The Rookie of the Year Award will be presented to an employee with experience of two years or less (18). From the early stages of employment this individual has proven to show exceptional commitment to BOCA. The recipient is repeatedly willing to contribute to day-to-day challenges and is always ready to learn. BOCA’s future is brighter with this individual as an employee.

The Craftsmen of the Year Awards will be presented to three employees who are members of the Operator or Laborer unions or employed as a mechanic (47). These recipients have shown extraordinary commitment to BOCA within the 2022 season. They were consistently motivated to perform tasks safely and competently. They accept all responsibilities that accompany their vital roles and whatever it may be, they get the job done with dedication and a positive attitude.

The Foreman of the Year Award will be presented to a Foreman who demonstrated superior management qualities throughout the 2022 season (25). This individual should have validated true leadership within his crew along with providing his operation with the knowledge and composure that is essential of a boss. He strives to represent BOCA with class and competence all while repeatedly delivering a quality product in a safe and efficient manner. All eligible individuals listed below served as Foreman for a significant period of the 2022 season.

The Employee of the Year Award is intended to formally recognize and honor an employee for extraordinary contributions throughout the 2022 season (74). The recipient of this most prestigious award should be easily identified as someone who possesses great value to BOCA Construction. A commitment to safety and hard work is essential along with an ability to positively affect fellow employees. Lastly, he/she must have demonstrated an eagerness to contribute to the success of BOCA Construction in every way possible.

The saying “Embrace the Suck” derives from the military, originating with The Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom. It is quite obvious that it is intended to call attention to a situation that is unfavorable all while manipulating one’s thought process to not only acknowledge but to search for a way to deal with it or “embrace” it until the goal is met or the task completed. After some time of viewing and overcoming challenges in this way one will become trained to address and handle each situation for what it may present. Eventually and when necessary, he will be the one declaring “Embrace the Suck”.

This award is to be presented to the crew that was most able to battle through the many challenging situations and experiences that are inevitable throughout a season at BOCA Construction. This crew relied on each other to overcome and accomplish.

The JUST PLANE GOOD! Award is to be presented to the crew that consistently defined the slogan of BOCA Construction. They showed an undying commitment to BOCA’s fundamental goal of providing its customers with a product that is superior to competitors. The quality that was displayed by this crew in 2022 was not only noticeable in their ability and performance but also the way in which they went about executing their trade. Their overall approach to safety, productivity and communication rivaled the meticulous attention they upheld in order to deliver an extraordinary product. To describe this crew, JUST PLANE GOOD! says enough.
